The Sharing Economy in Hong Kong – How disruptive is it, and what does it mean to me? @ Good Lab
Apr 21 @ 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

banner-01

Introduction

We are in the era of the Sharing Economy. Over the past few years, companies like Airbnb, Uber & EatWith, have begun to fundamentally change the way people eat, sleep and travel all over of the world.

Dubbed the most ‘socially conscious’ generation, most millennials believe in maximization of resources rather than owning them outright. New ideas about sharing have emerged to challenge the traditional discourse on resource allocation, ownership and accessibility.

This new landscape has huge implications for governments and businesses alike. For example, individuals and civil society groups can now collaborate to explore more efficient methods to allocate supply with demand, and will share information much faster than any traditional communication channel. In terms of business, many disruptors have changed the outlook of entire industries by creating innovative sharing solutions to challenge current business models.

We need to rethink the way we work, and create strategies in which they can collaboratively work for mutual benefit. The sharing economy is creating a wave of change that one must be prepared for, or be at risk of being swept up in its current.

What will I gain?

The Good Lab’s Sharing Economy Workshop will help you understand and navigate the complexities of the Sharing Economy, both practically and strategically, through the study of global and local cases and meeting local entrepreneurs. You will gain:

      • New perspectives & Insights into what the sharing economy is, how it will affect your work, and how disruptive innovations might be beneficial to you!
      • Identify possibilities in various sectors ranging from education, technology, to transportation and social infrastructure for new sharing ideas, and harness the power and potential of the Sharing Economy for your policies and/or business
      • Meet the local sharing economy entrepreneurs
      • Discover through an interactive workshop possibilities of sharing in society that are just waiting to be realised

Social Innovation Workshop for Tri-Sector Leaders of Tomorrow: Unleash the Power of Collaboration @ Good Lab
May 11 @ 9:00 am – May 12 @ 5:00 pm

Our Flagship Programme

screen-shot-2016-09-09-at-2-49-47-pm

The Tri-Sector Leaders Programme brings participants from businesses, NGOs and government together to get inspired by the latest Social Innovation case studies from around the world to co-create new solutions of Shared Value for Hong Kong’s future.

We live in a rapidly changing world. In face of increasing social and economic inequality fueled by a growing mistrust between different sectors, how can our government, businesses and the social impact sector reignite the collaborative spirit to create solutions for a better tomorrow?

Over this two-day immersive workshop, 40 leaders from different sectors will gather to challenge existing assumptions about current problems, allow their minds to be opened to new solutions and be inspired by new approaches to overcome the currently entrenched social issues.

Shared Value

First presented by Professor Michael E. Porter and Mark R. Kramer in the Harvard Business Review in 2006, Shared Value is created when companies recognize that there are tremendous opportunities for innovation and growth in treating social problems as business objectives.

Leadership in the 21st Century

“Fifteen years ago, when people asked bank CEOs to get involved in their communities, they said that’s not what their shareholders want. Today, they’re not only investing in their communities, they’re partnering with governments and non-profits to jointly solve problems on a community level.
That’s why, to truly capitalize on the unprecedented opportunity created by the alignment of the public, private and philanthropic sectors, we need leaders who have also evolved in the same way.”

– Dominic Barton, Global Managing Partner of McKinsey & Company

Gifted with the skills to transition fluidly between sectors, Tri-Sector Leaders work at the intersection between the Governments, NGOs and Corporations, helping to forge partnerships that leverage each sector’s strengths and capabilities to resolve Hong Kong’s most pressing challenges.
