We live in a rapidly changing world. In face of increasing social and economic inequality fueled by a growing mistrust between different sectors, how can our government, businesses and the social impact sector reignite a collaborative spirit to create solutions for a better tomorrow?
Over this two-day immersive workshop, leaders from different sectors will gather to challenge existing assumptions about current problems, allow their minds to be opened to new solutions and be inspired by new approaches to overcome the currently entrenched social issues.
Shared Value
Shared Value is a strategy in which companies find business opportunities in solving social problems. It is a model that allows businesses to realise innovation and growth potential by treating social problems as business objectives; maximising their competitive advantage while creating value in society.
– SIE Fund, September 2013
Opened in 2012, the Good Lab is a social innovation consultancy and co-working space that has provided both a home and network for social innovators to thrive. Embracing the spirit of collaboration, we work across the sectors of government, civil society and business, connecting allies and partners to co-create a more inclusive and equal Hong Kong.
We curate bespoke inspirational training programs to empower organisations to think more innovatively through design thinking and encourage the collaboration between different sectors for social impact. Over the past 6 years, we have worked with over 50+ organisations, helping them understand societal challenges and how they can play in active part in being part of the solution.
Beyond training, we also work hand in hand with various organisations across Hong Kong to realise social innovation and change directly in their community. Our past clients and partners include Civil Service Training and Development Institute, Covestro, Google, Hong Kong Jockey Club, Hong Kong Police Force, Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui, HSBC, J.P. Morgan, MakerBay, MTR Corporation, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals and Yan Oi Tong.

Currently, one in six of us is aged 65 or above in Hong Kong. This ratio will increase to one in three by 2040. How will this demographic shift transform the way our society functions? How can governments, civil society and businesses equip themselves for this change? Most importantly, do we see this shift as an opportunity or as a problem to solve?
In this two-day immersive workshop, you will learn from case studies how different countries are preparing themselves to this shift in their society. You will meet local social innovators and learn about their solutions to ageing. Using Design Thinking, participants will then get a chance to bring your knowledge together to design potential solutions to the challenges of our collective future.

We are in the era of the Sharing Economy. Over the past few years, companies like Airbnb, Carshare & EatWith, have begun to fundamentally change the way people eat, sleep and travel all over of the world.
Dubbed the most ‘socially conscious’ generation, most millennials believe in maximization of resources rather than owning them outright. New ideas about sharing have emerged to challenge the traditional discourse on resource allocation, ownership and accessibility.
This new landscape has huge implications for governments and businesses alike. For example, individuals and civil society groups can now collaborate to explore more efficient methods to allocate supply with demand, and will share information much faster than any traditional communication channel. In terms of business, many disruptors have changed the outlook of entire industries by creating innovative sharing solutions to challenge current business models.
We need to rethink the way we work, and create strategies in which they can collaboratively work for mutual benefit. The sharing economy is creating a wave of change that one must be prepared for, or be at risk of being swept up in its current.
